The Harp of Kings book cover2019 was the year I stopped my feast or famine reading style, where I would either ban myself completely from reading in order to get some writing done, or give in and binge read all night, and day, and night again, and get no writing done at all. So I joined the #52booksin52weeks challenge, hoping it would help – and it did! I really loved making time to read – or listen, as audiobooks helped me reach my goal.

[Check out the 52 books I read in 52 weeks here…]

A Discovery of WitchesI tried to narrow down my top five reads for 2019, as so many people were doing – but it was way too difficult! My top three were easy – Circe by Madeline Miller, and The Harp of Kings and Beautiful, both by Juliet Marillier (such a treat to have two new books from my favourite author!) – but after that I was stuck. I added three more, to make a top six – numbers four, five and six, in no particular order, were Winterwood by Shea Ernshaw (I loved last year’s Wicked Deep too), the magical The Blue Rose by Kate Forsyth, and A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness.

But there were another twelve I really loved too (in no particular order)…
